Casino games with the best payout

Best payout casino games

When the movie 21 was released a few years ago, many people felt that maybe it really was possible to beat the casino. Based on a real-life account of a group of MIT students who won millions by working out a strategy for playing blackjack, the film caused the popularity of the game to soar.

Blackjack strategies to put odds in your favour

The MIT players didn’t cheat. Blackjack has the lowest house edge of all the most popular casino games, and it is one of the very few where a basic strategy can be devised that tilts the odds into the players’ favour. Strategies for winning at blackjack had started in earnest in the 1960s, after Edward O Thorp’s book Beat the Dealer became a best seller.

Beat the dealer

Your edge on the very basic rule of the game. The objective of the game is to beat the casino dealer, who deals the cards out to the players. If your cards total higher than the dealer’s without going over 21, you win. If your hand goes over 21, you lose, or “bust”. If the dealer’s hand goes over 21, he busts. The advantage for the house lies in the fact that you always play first. If you bust, you lose. This gives a slight statistical edge, over time, to the house. The edge is generally reckoned at less than 0.50 percent.

Long-term edge

By using a strategy that includes feats of observation, computation and memory, it is possible for the player to gain a long-term edge in the game. Other players use gut feelings, superstition, and getting up and walking away. Whatever. The long-term advantage is to the house.

Poker tournaments have become a big attraction, with the World Series of Poker attracting top players and championship payouts in millions of dollars.

A couple of comments about Poker

Underlying this increase in poker interest is that game theory mathematics has emerged and can provide new ideas for poker players. Again, this includes observation and computation, but added into this is the ability to read the faces and actions of the other players. The really canny observer will know that it is not just the face that can betray emotions, but the movements of the hands and arms pushing the chips into the center of the table.

A system can be devised for winning big payouts at video poker, but very often the best system is in knowing when to stop. And not to play when you are drinking alcohol.

Winning big at roulette has its own mythology. Roulette is another of the most popular casino games, and is essentially very simple. A US roulette wheel consists of 38 numbered slots: numbers 1 to 36, a zero, and a double zero. After the bets are laid, the dealer spins the wheel, drops a ball onto the spinning surface, and as the wheel slows the ball will settle into one of the numbered slots.

According to the authoritative website Wizard of Odds, all American casinos follow US rules, which give a house edge of 5.26 percent. The exception is Atlantic City, which has its own rules based on a variation of European rules, which lowers the house edge to 2.63 percent.

In-built advantage

Dedicated players have over the years believed they have devised their own strategy for beating the roulette wheel, but an unbiased wheel has no memory, and over time, even if you appear to be ahead, you will eventually lose, as no system can withstand the in-built statistical advantage. Computer simulations have tested many of the betting systems, and every time the system has eventually failed. If in doubt, bear in mind the words of Albert Einstein: “No one can possibly win at roulette unless he steals money from the table while the croupier isn’t looking.”

Dice games such as craps can also pay out big money, and craps is one of the casino games where the high rollers gather. It is also an exciting game, sometimes with 20 or more players rolling the dice and four casino staff at the table. There are techniques for throwing the dice, and there are strategies for placing bets, but again the dice has no memory. Craps however has a small house edge, as low as 0.60 percent if you are playing double odds craps, according to the Fast Odds website.

Baccarat is another game that is essentially simple to play, and in which there is little or no strategy possible. For players, the house edge is rated at 1.63 percent, and for the banker at 1.17 percent.

Best chance

Fast Odds places craps, blackjack and baccarat as the casino games that offer the smallest house advantage and therefore the best chance of the player leaving the casino with more money in his pocket than when he walked in.

Blackjack is the game that the professional gamblers tend to work on, but you either need to be a math genius (an MIT student, for example), or a highly knowledgeable and patient card counter. This way you can expect to have an advantage over the house of between 0.5 and 2 percent, according to Fast Odds. Even then, you are going to need a lot of money and many hours of playing before you can turn a large profit.

There is no mystery to the success of the casinos. Players place wagers on games that have an in-built house edge. The players win or lose. The casino is betting on players continuing to place bets, pumping more money through the house and therefore maintaining the statistical probability that the casino will over the course of time be the winner.

But winning money is only part of the attraction of the casino. Recreational players will always say they don’t mind parting with a little money because they regard it as a fair price to pay for fun. Live and online casinos are exciting places, and they offer plenty of action other than gaming for those who don’t enjoy huge betting.

Choosing the casino games with the best payouts will guide you to make informed choices however, sometimes you win big and sometimes you can also lose big … unless a cahback deal is linked to your online casino account! In which case, the casino-goer wins every time.

I have a friend that only plays on Wednesdays and only after drinking 3 shots of Tequila. This is his thing and while it does sound weird and funny at the same time, he is mostly having winning days with this “system”.

He plays Blackjack and while he hasn’t won a huge amount of money playing, he
still usually gets at least a $500 profit each Wednesday. He loves the thrill of the game but keeps playing only one day weekly because in the past he was addicted to this and losing lots of money. It’s a good thing that he stopped playing as much or he would have surely lost his home to gambling.

Took you up on your InterCasino offer and created an account with them because of the 20% cashback and the sign up bonus! Pretty sweet deal! I’ll use this account for playing the roulette because this is the game I like the most.

I wonder why Atlantic City can afford to lose money as their house edge is just 2.63 which is half compared to other US casinos? Is there a reason why they are doing this besides attracting potential clients?

  • Dylan Gonzalez

Hahaha, Albert Einstein was so right! I would have to run away with the money to start winning at roulette or poker! I can’t understand how other people do it? How do they manage to keep their cool, count cards and smell a bluff?

So many people are attracted to poker because they see all these great players winning millions of dollars but they never think how much work it takes for them to get to this level. It’s a difficult, stressful line of work and not many can do it. I wish I could but that’s not the case. I wouldn’t be able to handle the pressure.

Had no idea that double odds craps had such a small house edge! This has just risen to the top of my list of casino games to play. I always thought that Baccarat was the game with the lowest house edge. I’m not the strategy type player so craps, Baccarat and Blackjack (sometimes play this) are perfect for me. The most success I’ve had so far is playing Baccarat, knowing when to stop and only have a certain amount of money at my disposal for each session. If I know exactly how much money I am willing to lose, I usually play better and win in most cases.

I know most people play these games hoping they will win big time but for me this is all about the thrill of the game, the fun of it. If I win I am very happy but no matter what I keep having fun and that’s why I came to the casino in the first place.

I have 2 casinos I frequently visit and stick to them because their services are impeccable and they make you feel welcomed. I know they stand to make money from making me feel good but they have a special way of doing things that appeals to me.
